Dr. Vanessa Frei’s research focuses on the neural correlates of multisensory perception, language processing, and socio-emotional cognition in aging. By integrating electroencephalography (EEG), immersive multisensory environments (e.g., virtual reality), and mixed methods approaches, she aims to study inter-individual variability in human perception and cognition in naturalistic settings. As a next step, she is expanding her work to focus more deeply on socio-emotional cognition and its potential for promoting resilience in older adults. She wants to extend her methodological skills to include psychophysiological assessments and neuroimaging techniques such as fMRI, with the aim of identifying early biomarkers and modifiable risk factors for socio-emotional and cognitive decline.
